About

Venatio Creo is a portable intuitive platform designed to allow non-programmers to create interactive computer games. It utilizes a WYSIWYG interface that lets the user see the effects of their actions immediately. After the game is created, the user may redistribute the application as a stand-alone professional quality program. (PC version required for redistribution)

Venatio Creo and Venatio Creo 3D

Venatio Creo and Venatio Creo 3D depend on several libraries to run, including DeviL, OpenAL and FreeGLUT. The Venatio Creo platform has been in development for well over three years by Evan Wolbach. Currently, Venatio Creo and Venatio Creo 3D are only compiled to run on Windows machines. Recent additions to the project include Lindsey Stone, who currently provides art assets, design, and all website materials. Sound has been provided by Rebecca Lamhut, Caroline Spivak, and Zachary Reeder.

Venatio Creo (for the Xbox 360)

Venatio Creo for the Xbox 360 is the most recent project addition to the Venatio Creo platform. This port was conceived with the goal of bringing the fundamentals of Venatio Creo to the more casual environment of the game system. Many of the original functions of Venatio Creo remain, but are now designed around the use of the Xbox 360 Game Controller. Games are created in the same way that they are in the PC version, with functionality provided through a revamped version of the Game Logic Editor. Due to the platform limitations of the Xbox 360, users will be unable to include their own custom images and sounds. In response to this, Venatio Creo 360 comes bundled with a large amount of assets. It is our goal to continually patch Venatio Creo 360 to allow users to have more features and art/sound assets.

Venatio Creo Lite (Games for Windows Live)

Venatio Creo Lite is a port of Venatio Creo for the Xbox 360 to the Windows operating system. This port is designed to bring the simple functionality of the Xbox 360 version to the entire PC platform. The one big catch though is that you MUST use an Xbox 360 Gamepad while using Venatio Creo Lite. This allows the simplified functionality to remain, but still be used on any modern Windows operating system. In addition, projects generated by Venatio Creo Lite can be imported directly into the Xbox 360 version, so please share your projects in our forums and they may appear in a future patch for Venatio Creo for the Xbox 360. Please check the detailed installation instructions on the downloads page for all the pieces that you will require to run this version of Venatio Creo. If you are looking for a more fully featured alternative, please use the original Venatio Creo that allows custom content and much more functionality.

Venatio Creo's website is currently webmastered by Lindsey Stone, and coded using Notepad++. The gallery page uses javascript and css code from Lightbox 2. Any bugs, questions, or concerns about the website should be directed at listone@venatiocreo.com.
