FAQ

If you have any questions not answered below, feel free to check out the forums, check out the Venatio Creo Wiki, or send an email to the creator, Evan Wolbach, at evan (dot) wolbach (at) gmail.com.

What exactly is Venatio Creo?

At its heart, Venatio Creo is a codeless programming tool that allows codeless software development of interactive computer games. This is accomplished by providing a system for users that is entirely visual, from creating their game worlds to supplying rules for their game.

Who created Venatio Creo?

Venatio Creo was created by Evan Wolbach. It was designed by Evan Wolbach and Richard Liston in 2006. Over the years of 2007-2008, Evan Wolbach implemented the ideas into a functional application with artistic contributions from Lindsey Stone. More about the contributors to the project can be found on the member's page.

What kind of Games can I make with Venatio Creo?

Venatio Creo is a robust and easy to use game creation system that facilitates many different game ideas. The only real limitation to your game is that it will be two-dimensional in design, and if you are creative you may figure out how to use 2D tricks to simulate 3D. The application lends itself very well to traditional role-playing, strategy, quest-likes, shooters and other similar designs. With a robust game logic system in place, you are only limited by your imagination.

What type of platforms is Venatio Creo available on?

Venatio Creo, Venatio Creo 3D and Venatio Creo Lite are designed to be run on a PC. Both platforms are known to run well on a Windows system with a 1.5GHZ Pentium 4 Processor, At least 512 MB of Ram and a dedicated graphics card (such as an NVidia or ATI graphics card). We are always looking for users to report how Venatio Creo runs on their systems, so please send us a basic overview of your system and how the application runs. In additionto this, there is a version of Venatio Creo available for the Xbox 360 platform. This version of Venatio Creo is available to be downloaded from the Xbox Live Indie Games Marketplace. As long as you have an Xbox Live Membership, along with a storage device, you should be able to play Venatio Creo on your Xbox 360 console.

Why are there two PC versions of Venatio Creo: Venatio Creo and Venatio Creo Lite?

The original Venatio Creo is fully featured customizable development suite that is capable of a wide-range of vastly different games and projects. Venatio Creo Lite on the other hand is a more simplified version that does not allow custom media to be imported. The trade off is that Venatio Creo Lite is a bit more simple and easier to use, which makes it a great starting environment for new users. The one big catch though is that Venatio Creo Lite REQUIRES an Xbox 360 Gamepad to use, it WILL NOT function with your mouse and keyboard. This is because it is a direct port of the Xbox 360 version of Venatio Creo. The one big advantage though is that projects generated with Venatio Creo Lite can be imported directly into the 360 version and played without any conversion. We will announce plans for importing platform-independent content in the future.
